An 1879 Morgan Quarter Dollar Pattern - J-1594
I stumbled across this beautiful pattern while breezing through the Stack's website, and this was new to me. I think there may be one or two others here who haven't seen this before, besides myself. They describe the eagle as being "large", but I think "skinny" would be more appropriate.
Their description:
1879 pattern 25¢. "Morgan Head" J-1594. Proof-67 RB (NGC).
Superb Gem 1879 Pattern Quarter
A miniature Morgan dollar this is! The Liberty Head used on the Morgan dollar beginning in 1878 is seen on this quarter dollar, with the reverse displaying a large eagle not encountered on regular issues, and with the lettering differently arranged. A beautiful copper striking with rich iridescent blue toning yielding marvelous eye appeal. A "keeper" for the advanced specialist and connoisseur.
