66 cello unopened, (possibly resealed)

LINK

Only on Ebay..................

And then this BS................Unopened 12-Card Cello Pack (possibly resealed). The most scarcely seen series in the set,

I thought the last series was the most scarce?
I know the last series 1966 cards are the toughest of the 60's tuffer then even the 61's

I don't think I've ever seen a cello wrapped backwards before?

back in the mid 80's I saw some cellos wrapped like that.

I just love how guys lie when they hype.

I also had some cellos wrapped like that in the early/mid 80s. I think they may have come from the rack packs.

But with this pack in particular, if you enlarge the scan where the rub off is, the card has pretty rough corners. I think the seller may be correct in that this pack could be a reseal.

I dont see how the seller is an a-hole when he discloses it could be resealed and gives an accurate discription of the condition of the pack.

I personally wouldnt risk my money on this pack but if you decide to, good luck.

In one sentence he claims it is unopened, and he also claims that 1st series is the scarcest when it is not.

That in some eyes can make him an ahole. in mine it just makes him one of many ebay .................Ill stop here.

typical rule of thumb is that if a seller says that it may be resealed, count on it.

Ah, I see what you mean. I didnt really catch that about being the most scarce series. So yes, I agree, his integrity is questionable. And I also agree with cohocorp, if he says it probably is resealed then you count on it.

Not to play devil's advocate here, but GAI has slabbed their share of bogus cellos, so seeing the pack in a GAI holder doesn't necessarily mean its authentic.

Probably puts a '66 card in the front and back then puts worthless 80's in between. LOL

most of the '66 cellos are in fact sealed that way. Also, there are quite a few '66 cellos that have been slabebd by GAI that are bogus. They ere not from rack packs, just sealed backwards. Interestingly, the cello in this case seems to be aged and not very thick...is it a bad one?? Most of the bogus cellos have brand spanking new cello that is as thick as a Brooklyn accent!
  • Why would somebody list a pack of cards as "possilbly resealed"? Ummm, could it be because they've been presented with compelling evidence that it has been? Why not just disclose that PSA or GAI or whatever repuatable dealer has told them the pack has been tampered with?

was thinking of bidding on the '66 if it was less than $100...then I saw the "69/70 basketball pack that he also had for sale. Questions stopped right there as that '69/70 was as phony as a $3 bill--he's got no credibility now!

flat, no offense, but that's like buying a car that's listed as "possibly having engine problems" or a house that "might have cracks in the foundation." If you're single I know a few women that "might be crazy". Would you like me to set up a blind date?

the crazy gals are the fun ones! names and numbers please!

as to me buying it...It looked somewhat good from my perspective--his disclaimer notwithstanding. When I was considering bidding on it, it was about $65. I have spent a lot more on some stupid stuff. For the chance, I was almost willing to take it. But the basketball wax pack sealed the deal for me.

You guys are way too cynical....... I've seen all sorts of packs done in all sorts of weird ways. Especially from the 70's. To people on ebay, everything is "scarce" and everything is "old". It doesn't make him an ahole. It just means this person is uneducated in this particular field. It is a ugly looking wrap job on the pack, no argument there, but that does not make it anything more than that.

Carew, if you bought a '67 Carew RC and sent it in to be graded and it came back as counterfeit, would you relist it on ebay as "possibly counterfeit"? This statement leaves some hope that it's not counterfeit when in fact you know that it is based on the opinion of an expert. This same hope is what led to a $200 bid on the almost definitely resealed 1966 cello. This guy has sold some nice GAI graded packs- does he think the pack "might" be resealed, or does he know for a fact? If he thought it had any type of chance it is unopened, don't you think he'd send to GAI in order to get a higher price?

This isn't cynical, it's realistic. The guy knows something and is understating it in order to get a higher price. That's being an a-hole in my book.

To answer your question---I have a stack of cards that i won from Waverly82 on ebay that came back as re-colored from PSA. Read the threads on this schmuck. So the answer is no. I do not throw them back on ebay and screw other buyers over. BTW, wanna buy them??
  • I'll only buy them if you tell me they're "possibly re-colored".

But seriously, that really sucks. I read the thread on him and he should get gonorrhea and die. He's the reason that we can't buy raw on ebay with confidence.
