Good to see you back man! I see you did pretty well on those black refractors...should I list mine? I have around 3-4 per year. I noticed the 06's go for crazy amounts.
I havent decided yet for sure. i almost have 2 sets of 06 heritage. i had 61 black refractors of 06 also but i gave up and sold them on ebay. i was amazed at the amount of money i got for them. so with the profit i am thinking of getting a case. doing one set. i am going to stay away from the black refractors this year. as that took up a lot of my time.
but like everone else you have to at lkeast get some boxes LOL. it is the best set of the year for the money.
I also like the 2007 topps regular design. im into the black border cards.
ps mike thanks for the info on the dentist thing for my wife. but 2500$ seems kind of high for 1 crown, do you think? gonna get a second opionion to make sure next monday.
Kevin on those black refractors i got real lucky i think. 2 guys were in a bidding war. i couldnt believe what they ended at. i bought that johnny peralta for 1.60$ like 6 months ago. it sold for 130$... i was shocked. if you dont want them id say now is the time to move them bc there are 3-4 guys willing to pay big to finish there sets.
One thing tho - there's a boatload of entertainment in chasing the set.
Someone PM'ed me 2 years ago and said: I could buy a nice Mantle for the money you guys are spending.
I returned: "true - but that's all would have is that one card" This is about a hobby venture - buying hobby, chasing retail, opening packs, chewing the gum, collating the cards, trading for the holes in the set, the friendships that go with it.
Heck - we met over the Bowman Heritage set 3 years ago!
I like vintage stuff - but I've always had more fun around Heritage time each year.
I love the idea of being able to put together a MINT set (that looks vintage!!). To me...it is almost like going back in time and opening packs from the 50's.
The Ally and Ginter set was very easy to put together. The number of short prints were far less than the heritage. Good to see you here John, It must be heritage time now! How many are you down for? Are you going to put together a quick set and sell it? I can't believe people are already pre selling master sets! Kevin
glad you posted this. I really never pay attention to the modern stuff but this set looks awesome, particularly the 58 design. I remember this set vividly as a kid, especially the Ted Williams card.
Where is the best place to buy a case?

Here's a good one - DACARDWORLD - less than 700$ for a case delivered is very fair IMO.

Yep, D&A has them $ 680 delivered. Is the lowest I have seen besides a couple on e-bay that were 5 bucks cheaper dlvd ..... but screw that! I'm not pre-buying one of these on e-bay.
I ordered one box off Ebay for $63 delivered. I have a number of Target gift certificates I received for Christmas, so I'm going to use those to buy blaster boxes as soon as they come out. I imagine I'll but a ton of packs too.
I had a great time trading with some of you guys last year. I hope to do it again. There's nothing better than trying to work on this set around the middle of March as the NCAA tournament games are on the tv in the background!

Kevin was talking about the additional insert sets of Arod and Mantle and whether they would be considered essential to the Master Set.
I would say - yes.
So, to keep it real - I'm gonna do the set with SP's and take it from there.
I wound up buying a case from Dave and Adam for under 700$ shipped.
Are you gonna do the set this year?

2006 Topps Turkey Red - 3,872 different cards (includes plates and 1/1s)
FYI..2006 Topps Heritage had 1,014 different cards.
