63 McCovey, under graded? over graded? just right?

I picked up this PSA 8 1963 Topps McCovey a while back. Beautiful card. It looks better than any of the other vintage 8s I have in my collection, and actually looks better than the few 9s that have come my way. Think it might have a shot at a 9 if regraded? Corners zoomed in for detail. The card itself is slightly more narrow than other 63s I have, but it's also a bit taller too.

    All I can say is that nothing I ever send in with corners like that ever gets a 9. Not that it doesn't happen-- but it just never happens for me.

    I think it's where it should be.

    Lower right corner is too weak for a 9 IMO.

    That's a stunning card. One of those cards where the colors just jump at you. But I agree - it's a strong 8. Very strong!

    Solid grade. The lower right corner keeps it out of a 9 holder and rightfully so.


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
