i love it when other members butt into the middle of offers to me in my buy posts (shane--1954)

1954- why dont you post your own buys in your own thread and stop trying to get into the middle of people making me offers in my buy threads. its very ignorant. you have zero character. i am sure you do that at shows too, "ooh ooh i'll pay you more". loser!

it must be great to be the only poster on this board who never made a "typo". why don't you address the issue, jmbkb4? Should we use the grammar checker and analyze your sentence structure?

actually, its a pretty good thread topic.. ive always hated the idiots at shows that try to tell you "thats a good deal, man" out loud and in front of the seller, while you're busy negotiating to buy something.. i usually walk off and tell the dumbass to buy it..
Got a link to the thread?

Heaven forbid someone other than the author of a thread request a price of a card.
The guy had NO business in your thread other than to make you an offer or support your request.
I agree it wasn't a classy thing to do.
He hasn't responded - did he pm you?
mike
edit: as long as you've brought this here - why the edits to conversation with bluemarlin?
all those edits don't help either.
in any event shane should have just started his own thread.

yeah, the thread is actually kinda confusing now that ive read it.. my comments were more towards people butting into conversations at shows.. but i guess the same can be said about message boards..
regarding the edited posts between blue marlin and myself, we had a disagreement in the thread and we both decided to take it private and edited out the argument. we felt that the disagreement didnt belong in the buy thread. it belonged either in the 1952 topps thread or in pms. it was actually an argument about smr. its was silly and there is no bad blood at all between blue marlin and myself.
shane never pm'd me at all.
hope this clears some things up.
Just bring over 1954 - I'll introduce him to RichG.
Because of that, Shane is a "loser", "ignorant", and has "zero character"?
For what it's worth (which I'm sure is nothing), I've dealt with Shane both on these boards and from ebay sales, and he's been nothing but a class act.
Out of curiousity, what would have been the appropriate thing for Shane to do if he liked the card? Nothing? Wait a defined period of time before asking DRS for the price? PM DRS?

In the cases where it happened on a message board I contacted the potential buyer (Coho in this case) and said that if the deal fell thru I was interested and if they would let me know the status. Each time the potential buyer appreciated not having someone else jump in.
When it's happened at shows I've stood off pretending to do something else until the deal was resolved- if it fell thru then I felt ok approaching the seller.

That is the correct protocol.
MY favorite form of buttinskiism happens when I am on pawn-shop detail.
I am trying to buy something to make money and pay the rent so I can be
there the next time folks need cash, AND a nitwit chimes in, "I'll give you
more for that."
It is never a pretty scene.
Just to clarify on this,I posted comments on cohocorp's buy thread
regarding smr pricing in relation to his buying prices,As coho stated
these comments were better suited for the 1952 Topps thread or pm's.
Sorry for the mess or confusion my edited comments made,Coho spent
a great deal of time on that thread and I have apologized to him for the
out of place comments.

You're a cool guy Jake and that was very classy.
You're not invited to the RichG invitational!

We've all made mistakes like that. We learn from them and move on.
What I've learned from this? When someone posts a "buy" thread - perhaps they should make a preemptive statement about - "I would prefer that people not interfere with my negotiations with counter-offers - or comments about my asking prices - please PM me - thanx" or something like that?
mike
Altho coho was annoyed with 1954 aka Shane.
I don't know him and this was a mistake - this in no way makes him a jerk or a-hole in my book - it was an error in judgment - plain and simple.
The RichG remarks were just messin around - having a bit of fun.
Heck - my wife kicks my ass once a week whether I need it or not!
I just felt I needed to explain all the editing on Coho's thread,
I'm sure alot of people that saw it must have been wondering what
the hell is going here.
Take care,
Jake

Naughty.
maybe i over-reacted alittle when i saw a veteran member do something like that.

<< <i>I had this happen a couple of times, plus a few times at a show, where I was interested in a card that 2 other people were negotiating.

Exactly how I feel things should be handled.
Around two weeks ago while reading a thread one member offered a particular card to another. There was no clear response from the person offered the card in the thread.
I messaged the member who offered the card, explained that I would be interested in the card ONLY if the first person he offered it to wasnt interested and made it clear that I had no intention on stepping on toes or attempting to grab it out from under him. In the end the member who was first offered declined, the member who offered it to me got back in touch with me, explained their deal fell through and offered it to me. I accepted and everyone was happy.
