After that post yesterday showing the sweet Swiss shooting Thalers, I found one of my own. I just PP'd the money for this one. I kinda' like the gold-ish toning, as well as the PL Cameo reverse. The dealer (Swiss specialist) says it should go MS63 or so. I've got my eye on a couple other Swiss shooting Thalers from this era, so hopefully it won't become a sickness! image

    Nice coin but what is going on in the fields around the head and shoulders? Looks almost like someone tried buffing the coin.


    Edited to add: keep in mind I am far from an expert on coins and in fact could be considered ignorant in a lot of ways when it comes to coins and even more so on world coins. image

    I think DesertRat might be right about the buffing, though it might not result in any hairlining; you'll have to see the coin in hand to determine that.
