Anybody collect the UD golf cards since 2001? Is there any potential future value in these?

I saw the Tiger Rookie is about $25 for PSA 9, I can buy a case for about $100, is it worth it considering the Tiger Au possibility?

Any thoughts welcoms

  • I'd buy a case at 100, just to do it. I mean, yeah the odds are next to impossible to pull a Tiger auto, but you know what? It's only 100 bucks. That's a lot of pack busting.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

  • The 2001 bulk cases are cheaper to open....you can find them in bulk for as low as $75.

I ripped 20 cases of these cards....got alot of auto's...but never a Tiger. Lots of jerseys as well....including 2 Tiger white shirts. But never got a game gear card...those are tough!!

It's good cheap fun....and you can pile up the Tiger rookies....the $25 for a PSA 9 is book price....they don't sell for much more than $10.
The PSA 10 Tigers have started to climb a little...but even those don't bring big money.

There's simply alot of this stuff out there.

If you open a case...there are 288 packs....12 boxes if you buy wax cases....or the bulk cases have the same number of packs...just not boxed. You will get 8-9 tiger rookies on average from the case.....not every box has one!!

I've made more money grading the Tiger Tales than I have the regular tiger rookies.....

  • Thanks Stat, I love golf anyway, so ripping a case for $100 makes for a cheap and fun weekend.

Where did you find a case for $75?

  • I was buying them from Blowoutcards.......if you call them...they will drop the price and send for cheap S&H..again..I was buying 10 cases at a time...

check ebay and.....Mark Murphy had some last month as well....
  • AVOID These Cases at all costs unless you really like golf!

It was a major pain to bust the case and I didn't even get a Jersey card which are supposedly 1 per case. Sure I got several RC's, but nothing exciting. Buy a better golf product with better odds on Autos and Jerseys. Spend your money on a SP Signature box or whatever they are (The ones with the signed 8X10's) Those are much cooler.

I purchased a sealed case with sealed boxes also.

5STAT, If you don't mind me asking, how are you making money on grading the tiger tales cards? I have seen them on ebay all over the place and it does not appear as if they can even give them away.

    thanks

  • I had most of the 1st PSA 10's on the market. The top set registry ppl have all bought from me. When they 1st came out and pops were low...I was getting anywhere from $20-$30 for each of the 10's. Mow they still sell but at $15 each.

I made over 5 complete graded sets as well....2 with mixed 9's and 10's...and 3 all 9 sets. The 9 sets only made about $50 each..but they still sold. Plus, I have 2 more partial sets...one missing 2 cards...the other 4.

The Tiger Tales are tough to grade..with the foil and being the last card on the back of a pack..they are very condition sensitive. With the black and gold borders..they show chips very easily. Out of 288 packs..you will get MAYBE....20 that are worth grading.

NBAFAN..sorry to hear about your case...but the odds are "on average". I broke 20 cases and pulled 18 jerseys..so not all cases do have them...but I also pulled 8 autos (one case had 2..but no jersey)....which was above the norm too..
