Cracking out all 8s and 9s -->

Interesting food for thought. In () are the previous grades. Multiples of same card are listed as one number, with the first card of the series.

<< <i>Why do they have so much difficulty grading this set? I know grades can change with any set, but not usually at as high a percentage as has been reported here (in this thread and others) with '93 Finest Refractors. >>
There is a great deal of histrionics about this set and its grading, but I think that -- all in all -- grading is fairly consistent. When you have SUCH a high profile set and the number of big players on the registry willing to duke it out for PSA 10s, there is a huge amount of resubmitting to receive the PSA 10 grade.
There are very few (if any) modern registries with this kind of competition.
This is the explanation; I do not think it is a function of the cards themselves but a function of the intensity with which this set is collected.
By the way, my grades were by no means out of proportion to the bumps that ANY card could get on any day. Even by PSA guidelines, the difference between a 9 and 10 is fairly subjective.
<< <i>It is perfectly clear to me that any 93 Refractor 9 or 10 could also be an 8 depending on the grader. Kinda sad. >>
This comment is a little melodramatic, no?
there is a lot of chatter around here about resubmitting, but that's just about all it amounts to to me.

<< <i>Good results and another reason why there are only very specific things I will look for in a 10. You rarely can tell the difference between a 9 and a 10. I'm happy with 9s in my collection. 10s are for selling. >>
I hear you on this for sure, it's amazing the percentage jump to 10 that some moderns get. I might like a select few of them, but cannot justify the price jump.
