What happened to ATH and PTI on ESPN?

"Around the Horn" and "Pardon the interruption" are usually on from 5-6 PM EST on weekdays but not this week, they have had various
other stuff (mostly NASCAR related). Is ESPN just using that time space to promote NASCAR this week or is ATH and PTI gone for good?

  • Yep, Daytona is coming. That's bigger than either of those shows. To bad I loathe Nascar.

  • You mean to tell me Nascar has a bigger fan base than those two shows? What a joke...I will never understand the love for driving a car around a track. When will they turn right?

How do people keep track of who is ahead if they are attending in person? Do they have a "leader board" lit up or something like that?

I do not think it really matters, those in attendance are probably unable to walk because of their drunken stupor, let alone know who is winning the race! They probably cannot even read either!

There is a scoring tower in the infield. Leader's car # is at top followed by the rest.

I go to at least one race a year and I can read just grate. image

As long as we are stereotyping fan bases, I'd say that I can probably even read better than the flanel wearing, moose "lovers" that go to hockey games.

That would fit as a wonderful stereotype, if I were a Canadian! I do love moose jerky though!
  • The demographics have been changing for NASCAR for quite awhile now, there are many more college grad types enjoying the sport,
it is not just the undereducated, redneck, truck driving, Confederate flag yahoo stereotypes anymore.

I still don't care for auto racing myself but to each their own.

I go to some races down south b/c my college educated brother has a sweet gig(he manages a steel mill for one of the largest man. of US Steel) where he gets free tix to sporting events. Luckily for me, I've gone with him to numerous events(no NASCAR yet).
    Like I said I prefer open-wheel racing(CART, F1, etc).
