Aside from merely verifying funds on the check, you may want to verify that the checks are not counterfeited/forged before you attempt to cash them. Trust me on this.
Greetings, I own a business and went to court here in Fl. I admitted to accepting a post dated check that bounced. I was told its against the law to accept a post dated check. I go to court and get screwed. I always cash one that i am asked to post date now. I make them make it payable to me personally not the business. Bruce

I thought that if you cashed a check for partial payment, they could say it was for payment in full and you are hosed.

This might be the quickest resolution. The USPS does surprisingly well in resolving issues of mail fraud.
