    Agreed.

You know the old saying...The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

With MM and Russ being probably the best experts on Kennedy's around these parts, you can be assured if one of them is offering their opinion on a certain coin, you better pay attention because you can take it to the bank.

The whiners can stfu as far as I am concerned.

<< <i>You can both tell me to drop dead if you want to but in order to avoid the SHILL!!!!! accusations why didn't you post this thread AFTER the sale like most decent folk do around here? Oh yeah, I get it! Never mind. >>

Like Russ stated, I didn't ask him to post my auction. I really don't give a rat's ass if it was posted or not. It's a nice coin that would sell if it was posted here or not. Just do a search on "Free shot at a AH Kennedy" and you will see that Russ posts AH auctions (not his) all the time. So can the PITAs just STFU!!!image

    There I feel much better!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I wonder who took the picture of the Kennedy in that auction ... certainly not the person hyping it here. No, I am sure that he is completely uninvolved image

That would defeat the purpose of providing a heads up for those looking for a strong example, don't you think?

<< <i>I wonder who took the picture of the Kennedy in that auction ... >>

Gee, I'd guess that since it's Marty's auction, Marty shot the picture. Any other stupid questions?

Yes, the truncated serif can appear on the regular coin if the die has become abraded in that area or if a strike-thru happens to land right in that spot.

    Russ, NCNE >>

I was going to answer this question "No" and the saw your response, Russ. Both scenarios definitely possible, but have you ever seen examples of either?

Ummm ... ok. Except that that photo was taken by Russ on January 23, 2007. No need to lie Marty. I don't think that you put him up to it ... I was simply pointing out that different rules seem to apply to you guys. If someone outside the "circle" did this, you guys would be posting spam cans for days ... that is all. No big deal, but worth noting.

I've avoided this thread till now but I must jump in here........

When asking the question of "Who shot Kennedy?" we need to realize that there might be some things that are never solved.

    Hey Russ,

Thanks to your post I looked at my 3 64 Proof Sets, which hadn't been looked for in 20 years.
To my surprise two of them were accented hair Kennedy's. Cool man! I'm going to bring them
    to Long Beach this afternoon.

Amazing that this thread has the potential to reach 100 and Laura's name isn't in the title.

The coin pictured is a great example of a "just missed" which would have increased the value 10 times or more.

I've been collecting accented hair Kennedys for years but did not know there are examples of regular halves with the missing left serif, so this was a great thread for me.

As for those who prefer to complain instead of adding something constructive, I just bypass those responses since they add nothing to the subject matter.

Huh?? OK let's look at this.

    http://www.holylands.com/11264441.jpg

    holylands.com (my domain)

11264441 the cert number of the coin.

    Here is the PCGS line
    1 1 11264441 86801 1964 50C Accented Hair US PR66CA shipped 2/2/07

So how could Russ take the picture in Jan? The coin was at PCGS being graded!! I think an apology to Russ and myself is in order.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I do not consider posting the eBay link SPAM. While I primarily post on the currency side of the house, I do collect coins and keep up with the happenings here. I have seen several links posted by Russ in the past for Accented Hair halves without regard to who was selling it.

I for one appreciate Russ and Marty's input to the forum.

    Fletcher,
I haven't seen a response by you to Marty's narrative. Given that your assertion (and its a fairly strong one-calling Marty a liar) appears to be incorrect. Not that Marty needed to provide proof-the burden would be on you to be certain that he is lying, prior to such an accusation.

He lost all credibility, (not that there was much to begin with), the minute he decided to start attacking Mark Feld.

    Fletcher,
Accusations without evidence don't go far. Tell us:

Where is the evidence of a circle of members promoting each others auctions?

How do you know Russ shot the photo on 23 Jan 2007?

Or are you making accusations with nothing to back them up??

Marty, I have nothing against you personally. In fact, I enjoy your posts. Nor did I claim that you intentionally spammed the forum. IF in fact that is your picture, then I APOLOGIZE for implying that you may have lied about its origin. If you say you shot Kennedy ... then you shot him.

As for what the Circle-Jerk-Of-Trust thinks ... like I give a crap. At least they are saying it to my face now ... hell, I was surprised to find out that they spent so much time discussing my every move. Check these links out ... it is always the same few idiots (Russ is Rackets):

    Link 1

    Linky 2

I have been reading their crap for a while ... these guys crack me up! However, it is nice to see their true nature. Read the posts, look at some of the other threads in the forum, and draw your own conclusions about their character. Then maybe you will understand why I do not take any of their crap.

On the other hand Marty, you have to give me mad props for my sleuthing skils whether or not I'm correct. Your picture "11264441.jpg" looks very similar to all of Russ' including those on his unsecure server, Russ' Unsecure Server, that have similar PCGS number file names and begin sequentially just after yours. Those files are dated January 23, 2007 ... so I drew a conclusion based upon those similarities. Again, I apologize if I was wrong.
