I wanna buy something gosh darn it rant.

It's been about 3 weeks and most of my snipes haven't even triggered.

None of them were "must haves" but rather good additions. My prices have been reasonable but someone out there wanted it more than me.

What sucks is that I just got a nice check and I've got the itch to spend some of it. Please keep in mind that this is "play money", so let's not turn this into an investment seminar image

I know there are others in the same situation and I feel your pain, brothers image

  • I've been able to pick up a few things here and there lately but I have definitely noticed that, as of late, more and more of my snipes have been too low to get triggered. It's certainly nothing like it was 1-2 months ago. I guess the eBay winter lull is over?
  • ever since I started using snipes, same thing, stown. but, it's better than overpaying for cards based on getting caught up in a bidding frenzy. it seems like the sets/players I go after now, mostly pre-war HOFers, are all extremely competitive and even VCP doesn't really capture the momentum that seems to be building up for some of these older sets. I got so desperate I started bidding on some more modern HOFers just to let the mailman know I'm not dead. image

It seems every card I buy sells way over SMR and every one I sell is at 60%.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set

My Mazeroski set and my Stargell set have both hit brick walls. The Heritage release date has been bumped. I was so desperate that I was out buying wax in a snow storm yesterday.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

In the past, I've noticed on ebay in March, a number of auctions for excellent quality high grade vintage baseball cards, probably presented then because of the anticipation of the start of baseball season.

Unfortunately you pay through the nose for these cards, but if money is no object......

I agree on the investment advice.

Good luck in finding something really cool!

I've found 2 cool board games and my 4th variation copy of Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

Just don't do what I once did - bid on so much stuff and won it all!!!!

  • I want to buy something too but I can't figure out what to buy. I worked really really hard last year to pay off medical bills for my wife and newborn. The bills are paid and a nice refund check is coming in. Now would be a good time for something I've always wanted to make an appearance online.

I'm feelin it too. It's been so long my wife even quit asking what all the big envelopes are for.

And of all the reasonable snipes I placed last night, how many auctions did I win?
