AHHHH!!! All this 90' junk

I really didn't think it as this bad. I had no idea I had this much stuff. I was looking for som Topps Chrome football for another poster on here and stated digging through some boxs. I knew it was going to be bad, but not this bad. I must have gone through 10 boxes of 91 topps. But that's not the worst. I have a 5000 CT box of nothing but 88 and 90 donruss. And all the 90 and 91 Pro Set. I even found about 100 of the pro set music cards.

All those Greg Jefferies Topps Cards. Ben McDonald's kept comming and comming. There must have been 50 Dan McGwire Upper Deck RC's. This list as you can imagine goes on and on.

And I have one question. Am I the only person who thought Wild Card was going to be the next big thing? The boxes kept coming and they all had wild card in them.

I don't want to put this stuff in the trash, but I have got to do something with it.

Not only did I buy Wild Card and bust boxes upon boxes of College and Pro, but I was convinced the number stripe cards were going to be worth tons of money in the future. So what I did was package a 5000 count box of singles with the intention of trading them in for stripe cards. I never got around to it, so I had a 5000 ct. box of this crap in my closet for 10 years until I threw it away because all the cards were stuck together.

Heh! I kinda liked '90 Donruss when it came out. Right around 1992 is where my modern card know-how drops off a cliff...

i have 100 stripe set of the first year. value $10-maybe. do you ever wonder what wild card did with the cards sent in? did they repackage them and sell them. on the premise it was a great idea. get people to keep improving their set by buying more and a way for people to get rid of commons.

i remember someone offering a $1000 for a 1000 stripe larry johnson rookie (the basketball player out of unlv, not the kc running back) at a show. ahh the early 90's so much money flushed down the toilet, what greedy times they were. they were the precursor to internet stocks.
  • oh man i remember them wow the memories...i say send them all to me...i am so funny, actually give them to some kids.

  • do what i did. i got on a 1989D kick about 7 years ago, because stupid me thought that high-graded black border cards would fetch more in the long run. it doesn't and it won't. so, i pulled all the Griffeys, Johnsons, Biggios and Sheffields, and i threw the other 7 cases worth in the fireplace (gradually) and heated my home for 2 days. got rid of a lot of garbage, made lots of extra room in my apartment, saved about $15 on the heat bill and, most importantly, did my part to shorten the worldly supply of 1989 Donruss!!! 800ct longboxes are log-shaped for a reason sometimes, and monster boxes make for a great bonfire. make a party out of it.....get some steaks....

Bearkat--I have wantlists for almost all the sets you mentioned. IF you'd like to sell me some I need, that would be one motivation for not throwing them away. If interested, please send me a PM.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

I have sent some PM's out. I have a 2-year-old son, so I think I am going to try and put together a set of all the cards I have, then sort out the rest for want lists or kids or whatever. May save a few for future birthday party grab bag stuff.

    Thanks
