How long does it take to add a new card into a player registry set?

How long does it take to add a new card into a player registry set? I submitted one a while ago....December I think....nothing yet. This was a 1917 Boston Stores Babe Ruth card I submitted for the Player Registry.

I've submitted others in the past that I was not sure should be in the player's registry or not since it was a retired year card. The player in question (Babe Ruth) does have other cards that are after his retirement. So I figured I'd submit them. No response, either positive or negative...and the cards weren't included in the Registry. So...I am begining to feel like there is no person on the other side receiving the messages even though they are submitted via PSA's site. That's frustrating.

  • Unfortunately, it's been taking 5-6 months to get cards added...

  • haha...thanks guys. I thought it was only me :-(

FWIW, the fact it takes so long is a big big black mark on the player registry. Why bother updating if it takes 6 months? I imagine many are like me - get frustrated in waiting, and start to think if they should just delete their sets.

well i just submitt them in a large lot. the ladies say that there is a software update in the works that will allow them to add cards to player sets faster. but it could be a year before its up and running. i can wait. for my main set, favre master, only one 6th of the cards are in the master set so far. i have well over 1000 i need to have graded but i cant have them all graded at once either. if i did and requested the cards to be added that werent in the set, the ladies would probably go on strike or to a looney bin. the last time i drop off a sub at a show the psa rep said...hmmm looks like you like favre a little. well that was only about 50 cards.

  • Cmoking,
Certainly, the wait is annoying and frustrating. However, it is worth the wait. The registry is a powerful tool for collectors. Don't give up on it. I have 5 cards waiting to go into the Lawrence Taylor Player set since early November. I was told last week that they were on September. Sounds like an awesome card you have there. Do you have a scan of the Boston Stores Ruth card?

I had many, many cards in various sets that I had been waiting months for also.

Upon contacting PSA they were able to get the ball rolling on one of my player sets and also informed me that they will be drastically updating requests prior to the 2007 awards deadline which I believe is sometime in early May.

  • Cmoking,
Awesome card of Ruth! Thanks for providing the scan. Checked out the photos in your Ruth player sets as well and they are fabulous. I really liked the Goudeys. Thanks for having pics in your sets.

  • That is a sweet Ruth card. I have just had some set addition hit that were submitted to the registry in Oct. The problem I have been having is not getting the email notifying me of the addition. I was out of town last week and just looked at my sets and noticed about 10 of my requests had been added. I got home this past weekend and got one email saying a card had been added that I had seen out of the 10. I thought it was my anti spam software but I don't see them in my junk file. I know the ladies in set registry are busy but it has been a little frustrating.

    King-

It is 5/6 months now. There will be a deadline for the next Registry awards, and PSA's staff (all awesome people -- Cosetta, BJ and Gayle) will get all the queued additions that are submitted by that deadline in. And after the awards -- we will be forgotten about until the queue builds up again and this cycle repeats for the 2008 Registry awards.

The only good news? In theory -- some of the player sets should soon be complete in terms of additions. I know on the Mike Schmidt Player Set, 99.9% of everything PSA does grade is either currently in the Registry or in the queue. So it won't be taking up future resources.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

PSA just added a card to the Gaylord Perry Master Set that I requested in August or September IIRC.

Just create a computer file listing the card name, serial #, and set(s) you want to add it to, and don't worry about it. It will eventually come in.

I just had 14 Johnny Bench cards added to the Master Set registry yesterday. They were all requested in mid-September.

  • A slew of cards were just added to the Nolan Ryan Master set, nine of which were mine. I believe i added them in August as well.
