Ever Buy A Card And Then Lose It? [Card Found!]

I am going nuts today. I picked up a 71 Topps card I needed for my set in an SGC holder that I plan to cross over. I had it on my kitchen counter and now I can't find the darn thing and am going crazy. I am waiting for my wife to get home so I can grill her on its whereabouts. image Luckily, it is a low number common so not a huge deal but maddening since it is one of just two cards I need to finish up this beast of a set. Any one else ever do this? Well, back to going nuts!

Don't count your cards over open manhole covers or while sitting on the john.

Yup, I went to a mall show and bought several cards including a Randy Johnson Fleer Update rookie. It was raw, in a top loader. When I got home, all I had was an empty top loader...the card had fallen out somewhere in the parking lot image

  • I left the card in the bubble mailer it came in and reused the mailer and my card was in it. Nothing too pricey but a lesson was learned. Dont package cards while driving drunk. j/k

  • It was Mrs. Marblethorpe in the library, with a meat cleaver
  • I had bought a 1994 Flair Hot Glove Greg Maddux in PSA 10..to add to my registry set. It came in....I put it somewhere for safe keeping.

Problem was, it was so safe...I couldn't find it.

I ended up breaking my set of 10's.....without the Maddux.

2 weeks ago at a show, I pulled out a 3200 ct box of Red Sox...and low and behold...my Maddux was in the box.

I remember thinking to myself that I needed to make Red Sox team sets soon....and when I did..I would add the Maddux to my set.

    YAH RIGHT....that was 3 months ago....lol

There are no doubt other cards missing. You have to figure out what you did with that missing stack. Check boxes and behind your computer desk. They/it will turn up.
  • I've had a few end up in the wash - be sure to check your pockets?

Yes. I left a card on the counter in the kitchen and it just disappeared - I was gonna send it to someone to have regraded.

My best guess? Our cat knocked it into the garbage pail - since then we have the kind you have to kick open to throw something out. A bit late I guess.

Well, after I tore up the house last night over a silly 8 dollar card, my wife found it this morning sitting on top of the mail on the kitchen counter. I know I looked there. I am either losing my mind or this card really did disappear for a period of time and reappear. I am sure it is the latter. image

Im going through this right now...a 1955 Killebrew Rookie...UGGGHHH how could I misplace a card like THAT!!!???
  • oh yeah...I pulled an UD Reggie Jackson auto (1990?) redemption card. I got the card and soon realized I threw it out with the UD envelope. It's been killing me ever since....maybe a PTSD issue.

It took years to get over it. Then I wrote an article on the great Bob Fisk collection. He has one and I believe it was printed with the story. Flashbacked right back into PTSD.
