Did Topps ever do black or colorful borders for FB or BK sets?

Okay, you know how Topps did black borders for 1971 BB and colorful borders for 1975 BB? Well, did Topps ever do designs like that for football or basketball or even hockey? If so, what years?

Also, during the 1960s, did Topps do AFL as a seperate set or put them together with the NFL players in the standard set?

Off the top of my head no pre 81 basketball sets come to mind but there are a few for football:

1962 FB - black borders like 1971 baseball

1966 FB - wood grain borders

1971 FB - red and blue borders

well you have the black bordered Topps basketball stickers from 71-72 I think. They are three players per standard card size, ala the 80-81 set. Other than that I think all of topps basketball was white bordered. 71-72 where white bordered but I think had full color bleed backgrounds behind the players.

71 topps football was a colored bordered set. 62 topps football was a black border set. there was also a football set that was grain colored borders like the 55 bowman baseball and 62 topps baseball.

look in the set registery at some of the sets from basketball and football. many of the older sets some people have pics up of at least a handful of cards.

1970-1971 basketball had vibrant, colorful backgrounds, but they still had a thin white border. The same can be said for the 72-73 issue.

1962 Topps football set has BLACK borders, and the 1963 Topps football has colorful borders similar to the '75 baseball set. The 1966 football set has woodgrained borders and horizontal design similar to the '55 bowman baseball. The 1969 football is one of the most colorful, imo. The 1971 Topps football has colorful backgrounds and borders, too. The 1985 Topps football has black borders, and the 1986 set has green borders.

topps seem to have a habit of recycling designs between sports. if you look closely you will notice this.

Topps lost their NFL contract from 1964 through 1967 and only had AFL players included in their sets. Philadephia Gum produced NFL cards from 1964- 1967.

Topps also had different colored borders in their 1963 Football set.

Although not as vulnerable to chipping and wear, the backs of the '73 Topps BB are printed in back. This detail has been overlooked in years and has proven to be just as much of a pain in the *** to condition sensitive collectors.

1986 Topps BB has black on the top 1/4 of the card.

1985 Topps Football was black bordered.

Also 1993 Gameday football had a nice black bordered sub-set called "Gamebreakers". It is a really nice set to build
