Paypal question

I need to make a number of payments using paypal.

The problem lies in that I can't make payments unless I enroll in Paypal's Expanded Users program ( that's where you have to request a Bank Statement and it'll have a certain number on it, you then give this number to paypal and you have a facility to send more money ).

The Visa card I use is in my wife's name and she doesn't want me putting coins on the Visa to start with ( I usually mumble about Ebay stuffing up again ) so if I start with this Expanded User Program she'll hit the roof and go into the stratosphere. Since we are close to Valentine's day this does not seem like a good idea.

Does anyone know how I can get around this ?

The crazy thing is that I have more then enough money in my paypal account to pay for my purchases, Paypal just won't let me send it ?!?! ( I have only a few small purchases so don't even think about hacking into my paypal account the amount of money in it wouldn't be worth it ).

I have Emailed Paypal but knowing them I'll probably receive a reply next week but I'd like to send payment now ( especially since a forum member has kindly shipped the coin already saying that I can pay when I'm ready ).

Any help would be appreciated.

  • If you have access to internet banking you can pick up the ebay code the next day, saves waiting around for a paper statement. Or give your bank a ring and ask them.

Can't you just stick the Paypal on your switch/debit card. I know you are not covered us much as you would be using a credit card (you will still be covered by Paypal), but its one way round it.
  • It's the Mrs' Card so I can't access any details either online or if I ring the bank.

I tried my laser but I can only do it if the laser has a Visa or Mastercard symbol which it doesn't.

  • Is there some reason you can't obtain your own credit card?

It wouldn't solve this immediate payment problem you are facing today, but it sounds to me like the right long term solution.

"Expanded Users" seems to be a category limited to non-US residents and I can't find anything more about it on the Paypal site. What's it all about?

  • Yes I should get my own card but the way it works now is that I keep my coin spending under control.

If I had free reign I'd probably go mental.

I think the Expanded User Member is just to make sure that the cards aren't stolen or perhaps it's a law to regulate the transactions happening between the US and foreign countries. I am not sure but at the moment it has me cheesed off anyway. At least there should be a warning telling you how much money you have left to spend........and why can't I spend the amount that is in my account ? Ridiculous imo.

How about getting a PayPal credit card? It's just like having a credit card, only you spend your balance. I use mine all the time....image

How about getting a PayPal debit card? These cards use the same system as other Visa and Mastercards and you can't accumulate debt...
