Wow, didn't SD just sign him to a one-year extension? Why in the world would they do that if they were planning to cut him loose? Will they now be on the hook for his 2007 salary? Sounds like a power play between Marty and the GM.

Wow, 2007 is shaping up to be a tough year in San Diego. They've lost almost every coach they had on the payroll!

So now what to the Chargers do? As a Chiefs fan I hope they trade everyone and start to rebuild. image

I'd think they almost have to tab Cam Cameron as the coach. He's been targeted by several clubs recently as head coach material and he's familiar with the system. He seems like the most resonable fit.

  • Marty was the one who did not sign the contract. He and AJ Smith never got along and acted like a bunch of 3 year olds and the one with the most power won. The timing is terrible for the team...no solid canidates out there.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • The Chargers are one messed up and mismanaged franchise. Eli Manning was correct in not wanting anything to do with them.

I am aware that there is a preception of Marty...

    But they were 14-2 !

Now my two favorite teams have fired him.

The Redskins fired him after going 8-3 in his final eleven games of his first season.
And now the Chargers fire him after going 14-2.

    Very strange.
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

Well since that day when daddy Archie
decided the Chargers weren't good enough for his little baby Eli to play for
their regular season record is 35 wins with 13 losses while the Giants are 25 and 23 in that same span.

Yup ... bitter Archie and cry baby Eli. There's a couple of geniuses for you!

With LT in the line-up, as a Bolt fan, I couldn't care less who the next head coach will be ...

Can you elaborate on that? Seriously, they were 14-2, and have a real good shot at being the best team in the NFL next year, I meen the nucleus of that team is still there, I think they made some good moves, Brees was a tuff decision letting him go, but who knew he would have bounced back the way he did? Not to mention they let Rivers learn the game instead of throwing him right in the fire, they seem to me to be a great franchise as of late.
