Wanted: MJ Roop Preservation cases

Bummer that MJ Roop went out of business. If anyone has any cases that they'd like to sell, I'd like to buy up to four of them. They must be in mint to gem mint (ha ha ha) condition with working locks. Please contact me if you got the motts. My email address is jeremyhaberman@comcast.net.

a used one sold on ebay last nite for just over $200.
A few went last week for around $100- it seems that there are a few people looking for these.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • why do you need the lock working...if a thief wanted to steal it, wouldnt she take the whole box?
  • precisely, fandango. the only thing the key is good for is to make sure someone like the maid or a neighbor's kid who actually knows something about cards (that don't have shiny foil on them) doesn't dip into the box and pull out a card. I only keep commons in them for modern sets, 70 and later.

I sold a couple to a board member this week for $100 apiece. One was in the shrink wrap and one was slightly used. I hope I don't see them on EBAY. image

  • Good point. Funny that you'd say "she". Women sure can be shady when they want to be. Mostly for the cleaning lady and random house guest...somone who's not neccessarily daring enough to take the whole box but maybe just a select Mays rookie. Any help would be appreciated.

a good safe would cost the same or less than 4 boxes (especially what they are going for now), and offer you much more protection.
Cravetopps, one of the ones on ebay was still in the shrink wrap, was it yours?

  • Griffins...I didn't sell it on ebay. One of the members who started one of these roop threads needed them so I sold him a couple. If they go to $300, I might consider parting with a couple more, though. Tempting. image

Based on the prices they're going anyone would be crazy not to feed the bidding frenzy by offering them on ebay, rather than a direct sale.

  • Hey thanks. I've been told that they will eventually re-open, but are no longer taking orders. I doubt a couple dummy's overzealous bidding for one case constitutes a frenzy. Are there any other manufacturers of quality graded card cases?
