  • Damn, I feel like I'm lowballing. PSA must really have me skeptical after years of beating me down with low grades. I'm changing my vote to 7.

I THOUGHT something was wrong. If that card gets a 6, I will not be very happy. I really think for sure 7 with a shot at an 8.

  • frank, don't mind me. My cards never come back what I thought they would.

The final verdict is that they will not holder it due to it being so fragile. They said that when they seal the holders, they use a machine that creates a sonic boom. They said that the sonic boom could possibly disintegrate the card. Same for the T216 Peoples Tobacco Donovan (Virginia Extra back) that I sent in.

Edited to say - it's on Ebay now in raw form.

I am not sure where your sarcasm was directed.

If it was towards me, I can assure you that that is what they told me. Call them and ask them yourself how the holders are sealed.

    Shane

  • 2 rough edges, 4 touches of wear to the corners. Probably a 7.
  • NO it was not directed towards you. it was directed towards PSA I saw both scans of your cards and they both should have been slabbed authenic. I just think it is funny that some items can be slabbed
Authenic and other items can not , have had a few come back to me Not holdered MIn Siz when in actually they were oversized, it just depends on the grader. if you look at 1985 Donruss it is fact that the factory sets were cut twice in other words cards from the factory sets are smaller than the cards from the packs/ rack packs. In other words the system is not perfect and there are mistakes made on both sides of the coin. I am sure there are others that can attest to the fact that I pulled this from the pack and it came back trimmed or Min Siz Req. I donot want to tick anyone off but mistakes happen on both sides. As far as my sarcasm it was directed towards Kurt Stillwell I have 2,004 of his 87 topps RC cards. can anybody tell me how much the scrap dealers are paying for cardboard by the pound????
  • I will guess a 6

Why didn't you disclose the circumstances with PSA in your auction?

Edited to add your auction's description:

Up for auction is this original T206 Ty Cobb. Obviously, this card is in poor condition, but it is authentic. I have a loupe and have examined it under magnification. The black lined border around the picture is a continous line and does not have print dots like reprints or counterfeits do. Here is your change to own an affordable T206 Ty Cobb, one of the most sought after cards in this hobby.

I believe the grade to be accurate and not exaggerated. My feedback will reflect this. Please check my many vintage cards that I have for auction this week. I will do my best to combine shipping charges. I will ship up to five single cards for $1.95.

I think the '53 is a 7 or maybe an 8 if they fall in love with the bottom right corner, it is very nice.

What were the serial numbers for the Cobb and the T216?

    7. 7.5 on a half point scale.

  • Geez that is gorgeous!!!

I pray that comes back an 8.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Should I have mentioned it? I just didn't think it was necessary because it wasn't a matter of it being authentic.

PSA said it was authentic, right? I mean, why wouldn't you?

Unless you were worried that stating they wouldn't slab it due to its sensitivity would bring you a lower price.

Hypothetically speaking, say the winning bidder submits the card to PSA and gets the same response. How are you going to handle that?

I've never dealt with SGC. Is the SGC slabbing process the same as PSA's?
