How accurate are ICG graded coins....anyone?

I was just curious what experience people have had either crossing ICG graded coins in their slabs or cracking them out first and then sending them in to PCGS. Do they that often go down a point or stay the same grade?
I know each coin is different and must be judged individually but I was just curious as to the overall grading accuracy at ICG?
Are ICG holders similar to OLD Green PCI Holders when PCI would grade coins a little more conservatively?
Thanks for your help and opinions.

they are way to liberal with modern Stuff
Anyone else?

Based on my limited exp with ICG yes, but I see all the moderns way to liberaly given a 70 with ICG

I disagree. I bought some 2001 Proof Gold Eagles. Some were raw, some were ICG and one was a PCGS. The ICG ones were far superior to the others. I sold the others and kept the ICG coins.
Having said that, my experience should not be generalized.
I appreciate the opinions.
PCGS just so happened to agree with their grade!
I think if you are having coins graded today that their grades and prices are very competitive.

(Of course, buy the coin, not the holder.)

For 1950-64 cameo proof coins, I find that ICG is one to two points higher than PCGS but is ususally about the same for Cameo/Deep Cameo designation.

I purchased two ICG MS-63 Saints a few years ago. One crossed to 63 at PCGS, and the other upgraded to 64.

For classics, at least those which are circulated and low MS (say up to 63 or 64), they are as good as anyone in my opinion, and I do mean *anyone*. On moderns, though, they are way looser than the other majors.

<< <i>Do most people here feel they have a better shot at getting the PCGS grade they want from a coin in an ICG holder if its cracked out first before sending it in to PCGS? >>
If it deserves it, yes.

<< <i>The mid-grade 19th century MS/PF 64 to 65 type coins I have run across (bust, barber, seated) tend to be slightly overgraded. Like anything else, if the coins were easily crossable why the heck would they stay in the ICG holders?
roadrunner >>
Because, unless they have changed hands several times since they were ICG slabbed, none of the owners may have felt compelled to cross them. Because the expense in crossing isn't worth it. Because they are borderline in grade. There are reasons. Why are there still occional 1st gen and OGH holdered coins that haven't been upgraded that have decent shots? Same thing.

I haven't heard too many good things about them, but that's just me.
I have never bought anything except for PCGS, NGC, very rarely ANACS, and just today got my first ICG coin which I hope to cross at PCGS.
We'll see what happens.

Depends on the epoch. I regard earlier ANACS to be top notch. They get an unfairly bad rap today from newbies because what they see is the remnant after (per market demands) the typical and conservatively graded stuff has long since crossed to PCGS and NGC. Many of us with older collections still have great ANACS coins in those original holders, probably to be crossed before disposition though.
