I've bought a lot on sportslots but I don't remember seeing many graded cards there, or even that many vintage cards there. Maybe look on ebay for part set lots, every once in a while somebody here upgrades and lists the ones they replaced.
I'm sure there are some fair dealers there, but I have yet to meet them. I've bought numerous times on different types of cards. Nearmint means off centered and 1 or 2 soft corners. Scratches or marks , I don't think are part of the factoring. Not 1 card have I ever considered getting graded. When I've contacted the sellers, sending back was an expensive afterthought. When I contacted the management ,I was told there were too many dealers listing too many cards to police. The exact quote was " These dealers list too many cards to have time to give an accurate description ". I came to believe that I was being unreasonable to really expect a nearmint card when I ordered the same. I saw myself as simply a money toilet to dump their cards that would have never sold if someone actually looked at them first. To make a one time $5.00 sale was the gig and I was gigged.
I'm down to "ONE " honest dealer on becketts, so I'm not just ragging on sportslot. If you have a favorite charity you might be considering this year, to help the disadvantaged and needy, try sportlot or becketts. They are both kinda like the card world United Way.

I wish I had read this thread previously to last night. I bought a bunch of "near mint" cards from Sportslot for the first time last night. Luckily I only spent about $25 total, but the last thing I need is $25 worth of kindling.
I've heard other people rave about this site though. I guess I'll just have to see when the cards arrive.
I used to buy quite a bit when i was looking for singles to fill modern football sets. I never considered getting these graded as I just wanted to complete the set. Most I have found to be good. Over grading can be an issue as it is with EBay.

It's great for completing sets and team sets. I have used them a bunch and have never had a problem. The idea behind sportlots.com is more quantity than it is quality. In other words, my focus was getting cards that I couldn't find elsewhere and at a cheap price, not buying cards to get graded.
www.sportlots.com - I also concur with frankhardy on the quantity point

Overgrading seems to be the norm.
