When PSA No Longer Grades A Card

I recently submitted a card for grading because it is part of a player registry and the card was returned with the "No Holder Available" message. Since this card can't be graded anymore is it up to the collector to try to find a card that has already been graded (before PSA changed their mind) or can you request that the card be removed from the registry checklist? If you can ask for the removal of the card, how does one go about doing so?

I seem to remember this topic coming up previously, especially regarding the Quaker Granola cards, but I wasn't able to find the thread. Anybody know? Thanks.

i belive its up to you to find the card. i have not heard that they have removed cards from sets because they dont grade them any more. i dont think that they would add a card any more to a set if they dont currently grade them however. but if you really want to know, email the ladies at the set registry. they will get back to you by tuesday at the latest on whether a card can be polled to be removed from a set.

Unless it's a card you know PSA will no longer grade, I would send an email to Joe. The above doesn't always mean they've stopped grading the card.

Very true. Also, there are some cards that some graders will grade and others will not. I can't explain this phenomenon, but I know it to be true. A lot of different issues are 'hit or miss'; i.e., the question of whether or not they'll get slabbed is not determined by a company policy, but rather depends on which individual is doing the processing/grading.
  • I ran into the same issue with a card from the Nolan Ryan set. I emailed PSA and mentioned how I thought this was unfair to collectors who wanted a 100% complete status on the set. A few days later they replied, agreed, and it was removed from the set.
