One Old British Coin Up in my Collection!

I usually don't post items that I've just purchased (until I have them in hand) for a host of reasons, but this coin both excited me and is going in the collection for a long time, so I don't mind if anyone knows where/when I got it and for how much.

1711 Queen Anne Shilling

I've been watching this coin for the last few days, and could wait for it to end... lovely color, plenty of meat left, and it's nearly 300 years old. I have a much more heavily circulated one of these, and it's nice to be able to add this one, as well. As a bonus, this coin is cheaper than most pieces I'm used to buying, even circulated ones far younger minted in the US.

Nice coin Jerremy, bought at a good price. It will make a nice addition to your collection. I haven't got any Queen Anne coins but I would like to get one soon. A lot of history in such a coin.

Like you said, totally original and nice, a great price for one of the best looking F-15 coins that I've seen, online at least.

It will be either the third or the forth bust. If it's the third it is worth more.

look at the hair... especially above the forehead. I would think NGC would pick up on the rare bust variety...

edited to add: I am fairly certain it is the common bust type

Excellent!

I always liked Queen Anne coins. Oddly enough, the only one I can recall ever owning was a 1714 guinea, though!

Love the shillings and halfcrowns.
