Are people just dumb? Or, are they just cheap?

I won 5 sweet Emmitt cards the other day. The seller had nice big scans and the cards looked great. So, I get them today and all five cards are jammed into one of those plastic snap tite boxes. Before I paid, I asked the seller if all the cards would be sent in separate penny sleeves and separate top loaders. He said "yes, always".

Of course, all the cards now have damaged corners. You can tell that some damage was caused from the lid of the box because it was actually too small for 5 cards.

I sent him an email though ebay and I am waiting for a reply.

Here is what I sent him;

<< <i>Hi,
Question for you; I specifically asked if each card would be in its own penny sleeve and toploader before I sent payment and you replied, "yes always". Even if I didnt ask, you would think if a customer spent $63.00 with you, each card would be properly protected during shipping. What does 5 penny sleeves and 5 toploaders cost, .50? Instead, the cards are sent to me in a plastic snap box free to bounce around all the way from NY to FL. Every card now has corner damage because of improper shipping. These cards will be sent back to you Monday with DC and I expect a total refund for the transaction.

Thanks,
Matt >>

The seller is "selleverything55". I was actually very surprised. his feedback is 99.9 with about 6500 positives.

I just dont get it.

That sucks. I hate it when sellers take short cuts or are just to lazy to ship something properly.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

  • I heard that most Emmitt Smith cards have damaged corners.
Emmitt wanted it that way. image

That sucks. Some sellers are just tards and don't care.
It's disappointing when they just waste your time.
  • Most people are dumb and cheap
  • sorry to hear that...its a very frustrating thing! and it really only hurts the seller! I send even base bards in individual penny sleeves and some kind of hard protective device...tough break.

  • That blows. The joy of ripping that package open in anticipatiojn of your cards quickly goes down the pooper when you see that type of thing. I once spent $160+ on three cards from a seller and they arrived with no protection, just slidiung around the envelope. No penny sleeves, no nothing.

    Anger.

Caught in such circumstances, crooked sellers often
    inquire:

"How do I know you did not switch the cards I sent
you with some of your own that were damaged?"

However, the credit-card customer is always right with
    the CC issuer.

Good point but in this case all the cards were all individually numbered 115/300 and so on

Sorry to hear that Matt - great e-mail by the way. I recently bought around 35 Marino cards off Beckett and went through the same cr*p. Of the 35 cards, at least 30 were ungradeable - almost none of which came in penny sleeves. The best of the Beverly Hills Card Shop who jammed all 6 cards I bought from him into a thick top loader without penny sleeves. Needless to say they were thrown in the garbage and another $10 down the drain.
