Maybe not my biggest home run, but a nice one from a few years ago. I bought a raw Uncirculated Smithsonian $5 commemorative on e-Bay. It arrived in the mail just before I was leaving for the local B&M coin shop to try to sell a few coins. I took it along and the dealer gave me $875 for it. I had paid $465 so my profit was $410 on a coin I had in my possession for about 15 minutes.

Probably not. I don't care though, as I got my money and PCGS did authenticate it for what it was.

Whats funny is I have sent in SMS coins that came back as regular business strikes and sent regular business strikes that came back SMS. I'm not sure how they figure it out.

Really? You do not care? I'll remember not to do business with you. Seems to me that you actually do know the answer.

I did real well with the 10 20th anniversary SAE sets. About 3x issues.

So far very well on the 2 1995 GAE sets. One sold a few hrs ago for $3500 and still contemplating sending the other in for grading

1888-O Morgan Dollar Harrison-7 (earlier die state) Scarface cherrypicked raw for $50 sold for $2000, graded ANACS MS63.

1878 Morgan Dollar 7TF VAM-123 cherrypicked for $25 sold for $1500, graded ANACS EF45 Details.

This coin will replace my previous answer from way back in this thread. I paid $205 for it raw on eBay, and with slab fees, I'm in it for a little under $300. It's Pop. 1/0 at PCGS in the attributed holder, though there are a handful of better examples out there unattributed or sitting in NGC plastic. Heritage archives show a PCGS XF45 at $3,172 (2014), an NGC AU50 at $2,115 (2015), and an NGC MS63 at $12,650 (2011). I would guess my cherrypick is worth about $4,500 fair market value.

Very nice... Got a recent purchase arriving tomorrow that could merit an honorable mention. But I've been mistaken more times than I care to admit image
