Tax Deductiable Gifts

I have a few 5K boxes of commons. I have read on here that many of you gave these to children's hospitals. How do you approach them? I have called more then a few and have been told unless its a cash donation that they are not interested.

I do not want to throw these away, but they are taking up space and if I could do some good while saving on taxes, I figure, why not?

I live in NJ if that helps.

Anyone have any suggestions?

    Maybe schools or police departments.

Stuff like this. I usually wound throwing away. What I can tell you though, is that I put them out on the curb early in the week so the kids walking home from school can see them (neatly packed, but clearly visible). Most of the time, they're gone before the crash is actually picked up.

Although you do got to be careful though. If you're in a neighborhood full of punks, they may just dump the stuff all over the curb and you'll wind up sweeping it up.
  • My area is not one where I could leave them on the curb.

Dropping them off at a school is not a bad idea.
