290081200795 - 1966 Topps Baseball #573 Derrell Griffith Dodgers HIGH

The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Accepted Payments policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

CASH

All fees related to this listing have been credited to your account. We also notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has
been canceled.

Safety and convenience are the most important aspects of eBay?s policy on payments. Our goal is to ensure safe online shopping and to encourage members to use online payment methods that are secure, easy to use, and reliable. They should also offer high levels of protection for both buyers and sellers.

Because cash payments do not offer the same level of protection and convenience as online payment methods, members are generally not permitted to accept cash as a payment method on eBay. Sellers are permitted to accept cash on delivery (COD) but only for in-person transactions. Personal checks, money orders, cashier?s checks, certified checks, and bank-to-bank transfers are also permitted.

Please note: violation of this or other eBay policies may result in forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings, limits on account privileges and account suspension.

Just the man bringing you down again. If they send you cash there is no trace of the transaction, and poor
old eBay/PayPal doesn't get there cut of your hard earned money. Just big corp using another tactic to force
you into PayPal or at least some type of transation that can be traced. It's the government trying to keep
track of where all the money goes. I still use cash for 90% of everything I do. Only thing I pay with my
card is some of the bills I can call in each month and pay by phone. I can understand they don't want CASH
as an option because it can be lost in the mail and then just more hardship. Well, hope all goes well with
    your auctions.
  • you were ONLY accepting cash for payment? thats a big no-no.

No Cash was one option, all my auctions state that i prefer paypal.
  • hmm, interesting, i see "cash" as an option (paypal, cash, MO accepted etc.) on many auctions, I wonder why they singled you out.

They singled him out because he was reported, whereas the other auctions were not. eBay has long maintained (and judging by the fraud on eBay this appears true) that they do not investigate auctions without member complaints. Lots of people with nothing better to do troll eBay listings looking for minor infractions to report to eBay--usually these infractions are not about fraud at all; rather they are eBay policies designed to protect eBay interests.

    Yup.

OTOH, it could/would be very unwise to send strangers cash
    in the mail.

I think the majority of ebayers already know that if you accept check or money order, you'll accept cash. If you don't want to bother with checks, just state you'll take money orders in the description. I accept checks/money orders and perhaps 5% of the time have received cash...so accepting cash doesn't even need to be mentioned.
  • I wonder why they singled you out

Because someone reported it. That's the only way eBay finds out.

There are tons of sellers who have cash in their listing... but in your case, someone reported it.

Yep, eBay cares more about buyers!

I would think that if a seller accepts payments via mail (check, MO, etc.) that it'd be understood that cash is also accepted (at the sender's risk of course). Buyers from Canada in particular like to send cash, it's cheaper for them in most cases, and great for the seller, too.
