Yes, he has one. He could give up the money and sign with whoever he wants. Will he? Of course not. It's a big story on MLB.com but I dont know if anyone else is talking about it.
In the article it mentions he has no interest in leaving NY. So why is this a story? A new season is here and this Yankees fan just wants him to go out and play good ball like he is paid to do. Just something consistant and a little better in clutch situations.
I really cant wait for the season to begin! Woo hoo!!!

It is a win win situation for ARod. If he has a good year, he will jump and get paid (Yes, even as the highest paid player) by another team. If not, he can say he wasn't loved in NY and take off to another team. Either way, this was smart of his agent to put the clause in there.
Also, it is obvious that ARod says he has no plan of leaving NY. Even if he did want to leave NY, he will still say he wants to stay. Imagine if he even leaked that he wanted out. Imagine the circus and it would ultimately take his leverage away and become a self-fullfilling prophecy.
