Sig Line Images

I posted this in October of 2005 and it seems that we have people whose images in their sig lines are creeping up in size again.

So here is the old post but it applies as much today as it did then.

Thank you,

Carol

Good Morning,

I have been receiving complaints over the last 3 months about the number and size of the images in people’s signature lines. We ask that you adhere to the specifications below. We will begin contacting members via private message if the size is not reduced in a timely manner.
Many have asked for the reasons since these images are not hosted by Collectors Universe. One reason is that not everyone is on cable, DSL or T1's. The larger the image the longer the time it takes to load the pages. I have personally experienced some issues loading pages in the past and I'm not using dial- up. Another reason is that excessive images clutter the post which is a common complaint to me internally as well as externally. If you are close to what we have requested below, we'll let it go.

200 x 400 and no larger than 20k.
If you image is too large you will be asked to remove or reduce the image size.
We will ask once and if you do not comply, we will remove your entire signature line from your account. If that doesn't work we will deactivate your account.
Please take a moment to see if your pics match up with the sizes listed above.
If you do not know how to reduce the image size, please ask your fellow forum members. Many are quite knowledgeable and helpful.

Thank you,

Carol

  • Size does matter !!!

    Thanks for having us.

  • I swapped to a smaller image, but must say I find the rule-change amusing considering all of the threads that tend to be image-intensive anyway... like the "mail day scan" thread or the 1984 Donruss thread. Not to mention all of the threads devoted to box breaks and showing off oddball cards.

    Oh well.

Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

I agree. One inch isn't enough.

Oh well, I don't need a sig pic anyways.
  • One visit to the Becket boards will show you why sig sizes need to be regulated. Some sigs there fill your entire screen. There is no reason a thread should contain 80% sigs and 20% everything else. HERE is one example of a thread on BMB where sigs take up a good most of the space (Why Wii Zelda is discussed on a trading card site is beyond me). Yes, some threads like the mailday are image intensive but that is the purpose of the thread. Someone with 56k dial-up can ignore that thread. I guess I approach a forum signature like I would a letter. Short, small, and simple.... unless your name is John Hanccck (swear filter).

Love the sig line pic mosaic.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

This has nothing to do with "one time" images in the post as you describe above.
This applies to the images people place in their signature lines that appear in every post they make.
