Topic of much discussion-2001 Bowman Chrome Pujols #5/500

I see one of the many 5/500 Albert Pujols is up for sale again. Item number: 140082988977, sorry don't know how to do a link. Something about that first five doesn't look right to me.

Aren't there about 6 or 7 of these 5/500 in circulation? The possiblity of having5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85, 95, `05, 115, and so on. Just erase the first and/or second number. What a waste. It should of been factory stamped to begin with.image
  • Who really cares what number it is anyway? The whole jersey number thing is ridiculous.
  • I believe that Pujols hand numbered five cards 5/500 because it was his number, and because he could!

The serial #'ing on the back was done by Topps, not by Pujols. Before this thread goes poof as well (since it's a PSA graded card that is questioned), has anyone asked what the serial # on the hologram is? Someone was trying to keep track of them to see which one might in fact be the real #5.

    Who is Rober Maris?
  • How can you tell by the hologram #?
  • The Topps authentic hologram--looks like the number is 3040260. Someone a while back was tabulating all the serial numbers from those holograms. Not sure if it's a case that by simple addition or subtraction you could determine the real #5
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

I agree, the one serial numbered #1 (or #0001 or whatever the case may be) should be the most valuable. image

I'm sure that you could probably bid on several "1 of 500" Pujols cards at this point as well.
