Well that sure was mean.....

There was this helmet that I wanted badly on eBay but I just don't have any money in my paypal account. So 2 days ago I listed one of my game worn jerseys on eBay to get some extra cash. The helmet ended today with no bids so I asked the guy if he planned on relisting it since I should be getting some money in this week. He was very kind enough to relist it after reading my e-mail, but he lists it $50 higher! LOL, I hate when auctions don't sell then the seller relists them at a higher price. What's the point?

I know several sellers who do that -- if an item does not sell they relist it at a higher price. More often than not it will sell at the higher price for them. Who knows why other than timing of the listing.

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

    "What's the point? "

Many sellers do this; I often raise the price on unsold/ended listings. Those
    items always sell, eventually.

The notion that any single shopper can be predicted to be the key to the sale
of an item is unfounded. Timing is a random factor, and no one knows who may
see the relisted item and grab it. Given X-days, any item will sell on EBAY; there
are millions of shoppers --- not just the few who may have been watching an item
    when it was previously listed.

When bargain-hunting shoppers inquire as to why the "price went up," many
    sellers BBL the questioners.

Just email him a day before the auction ends. Make him an offer for whatever it was listed at the first time.

Dont pay the more expensive price.

He does have a "Maker An Offer" option, which I plan on using.
  • I agree with storm.

There was an American Caramel James Jeffries in rough shape up for auction a while back with a SB of $49.99. It went unsold.

Item relisted for $39.99. It went unsold.

Item relisted again at $29.99 and it ended up selling for much more than the original $49.99. I guess it just all depends on how many people see the item and timing, as was mentioned earlier.

The worst part was that I actually had the card watched for both earlier SB's and for one reason or another I missed them both. I've since gotten a sniping service. image
