I have a 2001 Coll. Club that is PCGS-69. TOP POP wouldn`t you say. Only one I have heard of. Will not part with it for a long time in the future. Chas.
in 2002 All they gave out were 68's when you became a member
in 2001 All they gave out were 69's when you became a member
It seems they cheapened the club membership by giving out 68's instead of 69's
This piece is for someone who wants to collect the whole collector club series

Dan,
Actually PCGS gave out better/higher graded coins as time went by. I have a 2003 ASE MS68 same style cert and in 2004 they gave us MS69 ASE with a blue label as I recall.

I am not aware of any cents given for Collector Club Edition (for joining or renewing PCGS membership), unless they were samples. I believe PCGS only gave the same coin/slab style during each year. The next year was a little different. In 2001 they gave us the NY state quarter, in honor of those that lost their lives in the attack on the Trade Center buildings. Cameron K. has a cool web page on Samples and he explains why PCGS used state quarters for their samples. As far as I know the following years up to 2004 the coin of choice was the American Silver Eagle (ASE).

Additionally, there are at least (5) different versions of the 2003 ASEs. And who can forget the 2004 Collectors Club slab that actually contained a 2001 ASE!
<< <i>There are actually (10) different versions of the 2001 state quarter slabs. The slabs contained Kentucky, North Carolina, New York, Rhode Island or Vermont quarters in both P & D mint marks, all labeled (serialized) as "#xxx/5000". There are also a few known errors. >>
An interesting addition: I've been tracking the numbers on these coins whenever I see them on eBay or elsewhere and have never seen any between #760 and #2501. I got my first one (#346) in January, 2002 when I joined the club. I'm wondering if there really are 5,000 of them...
P.S.: I will pay $15 postpaid for any PCGS Collectors Club state quarter in this series.
