How do YOU collect record breakers....

Hey guys,
I know some of you must collect cards that reflect a certain season record breaker or season/career milestone...let's say you wanted to collect cards of players that hit 50+ homers in a season up to Bonds record.
I'm just curious how many of you would rather have the 1961 Maris - year he hit 61, or the 1962 Maris which would actually have the record breaking stat line on back. Or any other card...i.e. which George Foster would you rather have? This is only an example, but you, hopefully, get the basic idea of my question.
Just wondered if there is a general consensus or what?
