Best detector for my situation

I live in Southwest Colorado and have been told that the ground is highly mineralized. I'm interested in searching for old coins and relics, but there is "gold & silver in them thar hills", so I wouldn't gripe if I found a nugget as well! What's the best detector for a total beginner? I'd like to spend under $800.
