Calling all small cent pattern collectors.

I started a small cent pattern registry for the years 1856-1864. Below are 2 posts from the Fly In Club forum. I'm hoping to shed some light (over the next 15 years) on the rarity and composition of these coins.

"Here are some suggestions. Please critique and add others you might feel are appropriate.
1. Limited to pattern coins 1856-1867, including the 1856 S1-S10.
2. The odd-ball coins (for example the CuAl coins of 1864, J353 vs 355, etc.) need to be tested before included in the census. It would be very useful to be sure the attributions are correct.
3. Good quality photos need to be included to avoid overlap. This isn't practical for varieties because of the shear numbers but for patterns, this would help. Common patterns such as the 1856 S9 and 1863 J299 would be exceptions.
4. Might consider adding auction appearances if the image quality is satisfactory to exclude overlap of listings.
5. I'd be happy to start the project and keep the pics on file. If submitters are unable to provide good quality pics, I would be happy to take them but the owner would need to pay shipping expenses.
Any help would be appreciated, especially if you have patterns that have been tested (weighed and x-ray spectrum analysis)."

"Finished the spreadsheet on the small cent patterns 1856-1864 (see prior thread).
If you have coins you would like included in the census, I either need to see the coin and photograph it or have you send me a high res picture. High res is arbitrary - I basically need to see marks, spots, toning etc so I can compare to others in the database.
I'm EXCLUDING the common patterns - please don't send 1856 S9, J228 or J299 data. They are too numerous to go through the tedious process of comparing photos.
IN ADDITION, I'm hoping to bring some clarity to the pattern issues of 1864. If you have a coin that has been weighed and x-ray tested, I would really appreciate having the results.

Are you referring to common patterns being sold as rare because they are misattributed w/o testing?? I can see how some unethical dealers might profit from this.
Please do expand on your thoughts/comments. Those of us that are collectors would really appreciate your insight as a long term dealer.
