Looks like part of a salesman sample.
Topps made 3 card panels that had a regular back of a card and 2 card backs worth of ad copy. This looks like it was part of that, cut down.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

    I agree with Anthony.

Bowmans used to do the same thing -- but there seems to be evidence that the Bowman salespeople actually cut up the samples themselves in '55 and handed out singles to dealers, instead of the full panel. Very hard to find either in cut up or panel form, although panels sell for nice premiums.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I dont think the 55 panels were cut up and given to dealers in 1955. I dont know of too many dealers that were around then. I think the majority of them were cut in the 60's so they could be stuffed into card sleeves and vinyl pages. You could still see a bunch of the panels during the 60's
  • Wow Pretty cool. Thanks for the info guys.

Heres a back of a 56 Aaron. Ebay BIN $600

I think Marc meant retailers, not hobby dealers.

I have a full 1964 panel with Mantle on back, one of my favorite pieces. I can slap up a scan if anyone wants to see it.

Your right, they are very hard to find. I have only seen this one copy from 1964. You would think they are worth a pretty penny, but Beckett list the one I have at $50. Hell, at that price I will take 10!
    Looking for Carl Willey items.
  • Id love to see a scan. The FF mission is getting kinda slow and I think these might be my next passion. Well my budget will probally only allow a collection of pictures. If they are cut up no one will grade them right?

Maybe Gem grading would grade a cut up piece, but I don't think any of the big 3 would. Here is a pic of my piece. I purchased this about 10-15 years ago for $250. I have never seen another one like it.

There was a PSA graded '64 salesman panel with Mantle at the National. I'm pretty sure Levi & Jim had it in there case.

  • Wow that 64 pic is awesome !!! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if with any cut up copies people think they have a wrong back due to the Mantle. I like the red.

Anyone know if theres different sample sheets from ea. year?

    Good website on these?

I have been looking for the order sheets or any advertising material for 89 Fleer but have yet to find any.

  • Here is another. Purchased this 10-15 years ago. The guy had three, I wish I would have purchased them all.

I was told this was a 1c vendor machine display. I'm pretty sure that is correct. It was behind a glass on the front of the 1c machine as I remember.
