Why not recognize the countermarked Bust 25c ??

Ron/David - Given that PCGS has recognized chopmarked Trade Dollars for several years now, why would the service continue to deny the same recognition of the 1815 and 1825 dated Capped Bust quarters with E and L countermarks? Continuing research on the origin of these countermarks seems to be providing no more controversy and no less history than the Orient chopmarked Trade Dollars. In fact, in view of your recent expansion of the scope of PCGS' Variety Attribution, this inclusion would seem to be in order.

    Hi Coindeuce,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

My initial reaction is to say no, but you make a good argument. I'll discuss this with a couple of our experts to see if this is something we should begin doing.
