question about ebay and recieving a damaged card! how to handle

I bought a Carl Yaz rookie for my raw set for 79.95 buy it now and it was described as EXMT/NRMT I get the card and it looks EX/EXMT-- and then I pull it out of the holder and it has a crease/indention wear the tape was on the holder. He did not package it well at all and think it pressed against the tape to hard in transit. It was in a flemsy bubble mailer and am almost certain it got damaged on the way!

Should I just ask for a refund or should I accept the card?

I am really dissappointed(the card would be a PSA 3/4 tops

I could use it as a filler and maybe ask for a partial refund?

your suggestions and I wll link ebay auction and never had one come this far off

  • As a seller, I take great care in shipping. If the seller of this card used tape to close the top loader then he knows he is asking for trouble.

I suggest you try to send for a full refund. It is always a good place to start. If you end up wanting to keep the card, you should get up to half back in a refund.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

PS team bags are cheap and it takes very little time to put the toploaders into them before shipping.

i sent him an email and the guy has 3200+ feedback with 100% and I offered either refund or half off and use it as a filler until I get a EXMT one. Prefer the refund! I really have been waiting for this one and a little pissed no care was taking about the shipping.

I will wait for his response on my offer and let you know!

I think he slapped .52 cents in postage with no DC or anything!

  • Unfortunately, that shipping method is the standard. It is very disappointing when you open a package up to see damaged cards. My system is not perfect, but it beats the heck out of the alternatives.

Requests for partial refunds have become very popular
with scamster-buyers and very unpopular with honest
sellers. That is probably not the best route.

I would simply inform the seller that the card arrived
damaged and that you will cooperate with filing a
    claim. Do not suggest that his packaging was at fault;
the fact is, based on your report, you do not know for
sure that his packaging was at fault. (The USPS has
started balking at payouts when the "packaging was
not adequate." It is not to your advantage to speculate
on the cause of the damage.)

If you paid with PayPal, and the seller balks or delays,
you should file a SNAD with PayPal; they will refund
after you send the card back to the seller, with Delivery
    Confirmation and insurance.

thanks storm and prefer a refund on the card! You are right he may have just sold it that way! It lines up with the tape though! However, you are correct and would like my 80.00 back and he can have his damaged card

I get that all the time. Tape over the top of the holder. image

"I get that all the time. Tape over the top of the holder. "

    /////////////////////////////////

Placing the toploader in an envelope, and then placing
tape on the envelope is a snug solution. The card then
gets a couple of heavy cardboard slabs, and is placed
    into a bubble-mailer.

I understand the temptation, I guess, to tape the TL,
but it seems so obvious why it should not be done. Yet,
MANY people continue to do it!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the card really looked like maybe a 5. I just didn't want to say anything and be a Debbie Downer.

Just look for that thread and I posted a larger picture, some of the flaws were clear.

    Sorry.

Sorry to hear about your damaged YAZ card. If it wasn't packaged correctly, the sellers owes you a full refund. If it was packaged well, it's on the postal service.

I've never understood why some sellers can't simply take an extra minute and securely pack the cards they're selling. Why be so cheap and careless? They're not too worried about their rep. apparently, and only interested in taking the bidders money. The tough thing is until you buy from them and find out how they ship, it can be too late.

Hopefully you can get your refund.

    Regards,

    Rich
  • I agree with stown 100% on this one. I have never heard of a card in a penny sleeve inside a toploader being creased from the tape on top of the top load. The guy has sold thousands of cards and it just seems like a case of buyers remorse.....
