I've seen this movie a number of times, and the small bits of humor throughout are fun.
Aside from the fantasy type performance Nebraska puts in, I found a laughable baseball moment in the movie.
Bob Costas is announcing, and he is building Steve Nebraska's performance to a crescendo, and he says "Steve Nebraska is trying to accomplish a mind boggling perfromance, 27 batters, 81 pitches, all of them strikes...and LOOK WHO IS COMING TO THE PLATE, NONE OTHER THAN OZZIE SMITH HIMSELF!"
Hilarious! They couldn't have put a more fearful hitter to get in the way of a possible 27 strikeout, 81 pitch, perfect game performance than Ozzie Smith? Even more ironic is that the "NONE OTHER THAN" Smith would be batting ninth in the lineup based on that situation.

I've heard of playing not to lose, but playing not to be the victim of a miraculous 81 pitch, 27 strikeout perfect game. That's Marty-ball to the nth degree.
