Kennedy Half - 1982-P w/o FG on reverse

In regards to the missing FG initials, are they completely missing or
is it more like a very light strike?

Thanks,
Big Dave

i know little about these and goes like this...
first off they are cheaper then the no 'P" dime
3 different stages of over sanding/polishing the dies are known.the final of the 3 show no trace of the "fg".i just acquired one last week.these coins show heavy die polish lines that to me makes them look "fugly" and almost cleaned but all the lines are raised so it's as struck.
i myself had to enclude one in a kennedy set i'm working on so
by the way..."how'd ya like that give away peace dollar"

I haven't received the Peace dollar yet. I am looking forward to it though. image

So the coin you have would look different from mine, right?

the f is just barely visible, and the outline of the g is visible if you look for it.

There are two die pairs that produced abraded die no fg 82-P's. There were many coins without initials of various years that were the result of clogged dies. They do not command a premium. Here's a pic of my 82-P. The no FG coins of interest IMO are the 66, 72-D, 82-P and 83-P.

Wow. Those are some muffed up dies. The coins look like crap too.
    Thanks for the info.

i have a 1982-P no FG in an MS60 old PCI safe green holder, the dies used to strike these were indeed very worn and past any reasonable, serviceable use, yet they were still striking coins.

Don, what's the FS # on these since i'm going to crack and submit to.....................NGC.
