I picked up a Sports Collectors Digest for the first time in 15 years today..........

wow, has the hobby changed. I remember when that thing was 100 pages thick and as a kid I'd get it and dream about owning the many cards advertised inside it.

Quick question for anyone who looks at it: there are a handful of dealers in there advertising NM and better vintage stuff. Are any of them accurate in their representations?

Thanks,

Ron

Not accurate in the sense that you could get them into PSA/SGC 7 holders, if that is what you mean.

Although the guys/veteran sellers of SCD are decent people - they're grading is anywhere from 1 to 2 grades higher than PSA would award.

I put guys like Barnett's and Pologrounds in that category e.g.

ask yourself this--if their cards were truly what they say they are--why wouldn't they get them graded and then list them for sale assuring that they would get a much higher price on them?? Answer--because they are not that high a grade and PSA would drop them at least 1-2 grades.
