Error question - 1973 Kennedy half

I found a 1973 Kennedy half with no reeding along the edge.
Is this fairly common?

    Is it circulated?

Many of them lived for years in slot machines and lost their reeding.

Yes, it's quite heavily circulated. I've never seen one with all of the reeding worn off before now.

The coin spent some time in Las Vegas, or some other casino town.

Before the coinless machines, Kennedy's were VERY common here (in Vegas). The ones that had been in the machines a while would look just like what you describe.

I think the quarters would circulate elsewhere, so you wouldn't see that many competely worn out. But the half dollars would nearly always be turned back to the casino....They would live their entire lives in one place....

OT: Do Vegas slot machines also accept 40% and 90% halves?
I was last in Vegas in 2005, and they hadn't moved to ticket slots yet. Have all the properties on the strip made the transition?
