    Au-55,

Nice surfaces, good luster in protected areas, but evidence of light handling in the fields. The high points look little to no wear and could garner a bit higher grade??

    AU 58

Why? It looks alot like a coin I'm interested in buying right now...in fact...an exact duplicate!!

Great luster and original color. Tiny bit of rub and a little marky.

    AU-58 +

It looks like a little rub on the eyebrow and maybe the hairline above the eyebrow although I don't see rub on the reverse.

AU55. Seems to be too much going on in the fields to merit a 58.

Nice Half Eagle and a prime example of why some AU 58s look like MS 63s in pictures. Has nice luster and little if any wear on devices fields a bit scratchy. Wish I had it in hand. I got soft spot for "O" mint coins.

Too much rub in the fields to grade unc, too much detail and too few marks to grade lower than 58.

I'm gonna say MS-62. It's way better than the average AU-58 or MS-60/61, especially given today's lax grading standards. I don't see any real wear on the portrait, now eagle. The field chatter doesn't bother... typical for NO mint product that probably spent some time in a bank bag, rolling around in a steamer on the Mississippi back in the day. Nice, clean check, though.

    You gonna post the grade?

    Here's the grade-- PCGS AU58.

Personally, I think it is a monster AU58. Is anyone surprised?

Another vote for AU58. Too much friction in the fields (look around the eagles head) to be mint state. If it's in a MS holder, it's overgraded.

Looks like a nice 58. Portrait is very clean. Just too much stuff going on in the fields for me to be comfortable with MS

Based on that photo I would take it over most MS63's I have seen. I would love to put together a monster set of AU58 Half Eagles.
