Neat find for $5 (atleast I think so)

This afternoon I had to take my daughters to ballet class and they do not allow you to sit in the class with the children. I didn't want to drive all the way back home so to kill time I went to a little strip mall near the studio. One of the shops was a consignment shop. I went in and was looking around and they had a small display case in the back, I found this sitting inside on the bottom shelf. I asked if they got coins alot and she said no that one was in the bottom drawer of a dresser someone had dropped off. I asked how much and she said $5. I said thank you and left with the coin.

How can you beat getting a silver dollar, significantly below its melt price? Throw in that is uncirculated (looks 62, maybe a 63, to me) and that it is a clashed variety probably with a letter transfer, and you have a score. Goodonya!

Wow! I hope you left a "call me if you get more" note with them. There are two known 'n' transfer clashes -- VAM 3A and VAM 14A. The coin is not VAM 14A, as that has a near date. I don't think it's VAM 3A, either, since that shows stronger clashing on the reverse and has the designer's initial transfered into the reverse field above "God." It could be a VAM 12A, which has the diagonal line from the eagle's wing, no 'n', but part of the 'st' of 'trust' behind Liberty's hair. VAM 12A, a.k.a "Alligator Eye," is also a Top 100 coin, with the doubled front of the eye. Regardless of the variety, it appears to have been a good date to take the daughter to ballet.
