BUST HALF DOLLAR HELP

Hi I am looking at a 1832 bust half dollar on ebay, the only pictures are of the obverse and reverse. I tried to look up the value and see that there is a small letter and a large letter type. From the front or obverse can one tell which is which or do I need an edge view?

Is there a rather large die crack on the reverse at the left eagle wing?

Go for eye appeal. None of the 1832's are rare that are in a circulated grade. The Large Letter reverse is obvious because it has a die break and cud as big as a match stick.

The O-109 even though called R4 is lucky to be R3 and probably is R2. The O-114 and O-117 hardly raise a yawn even though they are R4.

So just make sure the coin looks nice to you. But don't bet on it if you are not experienced with bust halves. Over 90% of the bust halves being sold on Ebay are cleaned if sold raw.

Post a link ,no one here would snipe it from you.image The letter size is related to the reverse letters.

Cladiator has it pegged,he's just keeping it secret.image In 1832,the only large letter reverses(one die,two die

states) have a large die crack on the rev left wing, all the others are small letters.

It is in Germany so you have to paste in the auction number 220076962569. I had some solid advice on this coin now so I know what course to steer. Thanks for all the quick help.

I can see why you are attracted to it because of the detail. The detail is AU and almost Unc. But my gut feeling is the coin is washed out and probably only worth about $130 American. Meaning cleaned bright and maybe retoned or maybe it is still bright. Photos as to toning can be very deceptive.

Personally I would rather have a nice looking original in a lower grade.
