Finding ms-66 Kennedys in circulation

For those of you who go to the bank and get lots of kennedy rolls, like I do, how many of you have found ms-65 and ms-66's? Have you ever found one in a bank roll, submitted it to Pcgs and got it graded ms-66? I have a couple that i have submitted to Anacs and got the ms-65 and ms-66 grade, but I don't believe that they would grade ms-66 at pcgs(mostly out of what I read from the "higher standard of grading at pcgs). For purposes of this dicussion, lets leave out the Kennedys from the 90's, which seem easier to find in the higher grades and just talk about 1964-1989. When I look at the prices these sell for, it seems very few of them are worth grading if they come back ms-65. It is only the ms-66 and above that would pay to grade on kennedys. While your at it, can you verbally describe the difference between what you think differentiates an ms-65 kennedy and an ms-66 kennedy? I have bought some ms-66 kennedys in pcgs holders that I would swear are no different than the ms65 Anacs holdered ones.Thanks in advance for your input.

You have to forgive me. If we are talking about modern Kennedy Silver (no silver), why would anybody spend so much money in sending them to PCGS for grading? Please educate me. thanks.

These are big heavy coins with sharp reeding. Its hard finding them in Mint sets in MS66 much less at the bank. I suppose if you got lucky and got an original roll you may have a shot.

Back when they were issued for circulation it was much more likely. Not easy,
but at least possible. Even now there are a lot from the '90's which have never
circulated so this may be the biggest reason these are easier.

Modern gems have always been very tough in circulation and this is part of the
reason so few were looking for them. Every year, despite sometimes intensive
search, I'd usually end up with no more than than several pieces that would be
true gems.

When you did find gems there would be more in the area. It was about equiv-
alent to looking for varieties. The gems would be made briefly by a new die
pair when it was fed good planchets and some would escape the mint without
much damage. These would turn up together somewhere. It's still the same really
except that with much more care and lower relief there is a much higher probability
of gems being made. Of course the newer ones are less likely to have extensive
wear and tear on them.

Just to clarify, i only sent a few into Anacs... This was just to try and hone my grading skills. Now, after a few years of kennedy searching, i have almost given up on finding ms-66 kennedys in circulation, and I have been buying pcgs ms-66 halfs on ebay. I can find occaisional silver though and kinda get the same thrill as playing slot machines, except I cant lose(other than my time), and get an occaisional hit.
