photographing gold

I'm not having much success imaging a few unc and circulated gold coins I want to sell on eBay.

Can't seem to capture the luster and cartwheel that some of these coins exhibit. I'm pretty much satisfied with my ability to capture silver and copper, but gold seems to be harder; any tips?

Cartwheel luster is hard to capture on anything, be it gold or silver.

Couple of Ideas that work for me,,,, natural light works well, or A clear glass bulb 100watt is good.

I too have had some difficulty in capturing luster on gold.

For whatever strange reason I always had an easier time with gold. But I did find that I needed to get the light low, show it was shining across the coin instead of down on it.

Speaking of photogaphing gold, Is this good, bad, or just OK?
This is a proof in the original sealed package, so I did not want to break it out just for the picture, so I is thru 2 layers of plastic.

It's a 1/10 oz gold proof from 1998. Its called a Dragon Culture coin and the total mintage was only 6000.
I have sold some on ebay, but still don't know what they are really worth. It seems they have some sentimental value in china. Here is a link to the sale:Dragon culture coins

Yeh, I put that unreal BIN price on them with a 6 day auction and sold them within an hour. Make me want to know how much they are really worth.
