Sad, he was a good old goalie. I remember watching him play against the B's on the little B&W portable with the rabbit ears in my room. (My older brother hated hockey and dominated the console TV.) Dang, I'm a fossil.
From the classic era of sports nicknames. I saw him first on a Sportscaster card, looking very much like he does in that image above. He always sort of reminded me of Morey Amsterdam, from The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Truely one of the legendary backstops of the game.
Sadly we'll be losing many great stars of the 50's and 60's
over the next few years.

Great goalie, better hair.
Remember Gump between the pipes at the old Met.
Man, those old North Star uniforms were sharp looking. What a frickin' shame we lost that name & colors for what is now pathetic --- Wild

1953-54 Parkhurst rookie card
Amen, brother.
Nights at the old Met were unreal.
Kind of sad.
He was a little before my time, but I saw his show on the biography channel and man he was awsome.
