1731 dated Portugese gold coin. Can anyone identify?

I examined a crown size gold piece today for a customer. Dated 1731, clearly a joannes 8 escudos, but the date is not included in the latest KM edition for 18th century, and the reverse has a slight variation in design shown for the dates of this denomination. Weight 26.8 g. Any ideas?

nothing for that date in mine either. There is a pattern 16 and 24 escudos for 1731.

I noticed the listing for the pattern dated 1731, but no images accompany that portion of the K-M catalog. Very frustrating. The weight of the piece matched the weight reported for the 8 escudos denom., therefore my assumption of the denom.

Mine has images, but not for the 1731s.

Do the images of the pattern show a ribbon style banner above the left and right shoulders of the reverse crest?

The patterns have a cross rev and a crowned crest on the obv. Those may not be for the 1731's though.

The coin matched the K-M images of the 8 escudos in every way with the exception of a slight variation in the reverse design, at the left and right shoulders of the crest.

Is there a mintmark under the portrait?

Don't recall anything other than the date, clearly 1731. And BTW the condition was easily choice AU, possibly unc.
